Intolerable Cruelty (2003)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: Technicolor 100m
Director: Joel Coen, Ethan Coen
Cast: George Clooney, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Billy Bob Thornton, Geoffrey Rush, Cedric The Entertainer

Synopsis:

A California divorce lawyer can get a good settlement for even the most flagrantly guilty party, but meets his match in a bewitching gold digger.

Review:

A frothy, Sturges-like comedy that however lacks the brothers' customary bite and quirkiness, Clooney's mugging and all-too-brief scenes with Geoffrey Rush notwithstanding. (It was to be a 'script only' assignment but they ended up doing the lot as usual.) Some of the effects come across as pale imitations of better Coen moments.
