I Wake up Screaming (1942)

£0.00

(Hot Spot)

Country: US
Technical: bw 72m
Director: H. Bruce Humberstone
Cast: Betty Grable, Victor Mature, Carole Landis, Laird Cregar

Synopsis:

The agent of a murdered model is under suspicion by the police on account of circumstantial evidence, and he has only her sister who can help him. But she doesn't like him.

Review:

A noir plot before noir had even arrived; there is so much to savour in this Fox suspenser, but start with the Mature-Grable chemistry (yeah, I know, it's not that great, but that's kind of the point), and then enjoy Cregar's rather dubiously over-zealous inspector.
