The Illusionist (2006)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: DeLuxe 109m
Director: Neil Burger
Cast: Edward Norton, Paul Giamatti, Jessica Biel, Rufus Sewell

Synopsis:

In Habsburg Vienna, a child prodigy turned prestidigitator travels the world and returns with much more arcane knowledge still, by virtue of which he establishes himself as an entertainer of the supranatural and earns the enmity of the crown prince as well as the admiration of the Inspector of Police.

Review:

Shades of Perfume and The Prestige, two contemporary films, emanate from this beguiling entertainment, far less portentous than either competitor. A highly sophisticated piece of cinematic sleight of hand, disguised as historical intrigue.
