Remake of the Spanish film, Sentimental (The People Upstairs, 2020), this comedy of embarrassment turns into something far more serious, as it picks away at precisely what is not working for the couple downstairs. Not for the first time, a cello scratches away to heighten the febrile atmosphere and the pressure cooker dialogue is often overlapped, increasing the effect. It is filmed theatre really, an actor's piece, and Wilde sweeps the board with a performance of touching fragility.
