Synopsis:
A suicidal young man visits a secluded lake where fishing cabins bob for hire, and forms a relationship with the beautiful mute woman in charge, though on her terms.
Review:
Hard-hitting erotic mystery-horror, like an adult's anime come to life. The lake is almost a symbolic afterlife, with Hee-Jin as the gatekeeper or ferryman. Visually we are in the world of Ugetsu Monogatari, though far more callous and brutal; aurally there is precious little dialogue and music is used sparingly, making for a mesmerising watery poem. The final shot could be a quote from Tarkovsky's Solaris.
