Jason and the Argonauts (1963)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col 104m
Director: Don Chaffey
Cast: Todd Armstrong, Honor Blackman, Niall MacGinnis

Synopsis:

Jason's kingdom is usurped and he is left a foundling. Years later he returns and his mother's killer sets him the challenge of stealing the Golden Fleece before he will yield; the goddess Hera is on Jason's side but many obstacles lie in his path.

Review:

Practically establishing a sub-genre for sandalled heroes and Ray Harryhausen stop-frame monsters, this otherwise stilted hokum is briskly plotted in B-movie style and features some sterling supporting players; in addition to which its animation is carried off with real gusto and backed by creepy Herrmann winds.
