Jesus of Montreal (1989)

£0.00

(Jésus de Montréal)

Country: CAN/FR
Technical: col 120m
Director: Denys Arcand
Cast: Lothaire Bluteau, Catherine Wilkening, Johanne-Marie Tremblay

Synopsis:

A marginal actor is asked by the bishop to modernise the text of the Passion Play traditionally performed on the hilltop of Montrèal. He and his group of actors go further than intended and his life soon mirrors that of the Christ himself.

Review:

A reflective and humane piece of satire which demonstrates that there is still considerable cinematic mileage in this old story.
