The Killing (1956)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 83m
Director: Stanley Kubrick
Cast: Sterling Hayden, Marie Windsor, Jay C. Flippen, Elisha Cook Jnr

Synopsis:

An ex-con masterminds a racetrack robbery but is let down by one of his helpers.

Review:

Terse, tough crime caper incorporating the unusual device of showing the same events several times as we follow each participant's day in series rather than parallel. It incorporates noir elements as well as the Asphalt Jungle format, but is most noteworthy for affording its young director an opportunity to practise deploying characters and events with clockwork precision and photographing them with absolute clarity in a variety of lighting conditions.
