Legally Blonde (2001)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/2.39:1 96m
Director: Robert Luketic
Cast: Reese Witherspoon, Luke Wilson, Selma Blair, Matthew Davis, Victor Garber, Jennifer Coolidge

Synopsis:

A sassy but savvy Californian blonde is dumped by her boyfriend, as they graduate from high school, for being not 'serious' enough. So she follows him to Harvard law school to show him how wrong he was.

Review:

Flimsy rom com, which is about as naïve as a 60s Doris Day vehicle. Character plausibility stands or falls on a whim, according to the demands of the film's generic story dynamics: our heroine is smart and resilient, and can hold her own in a courtroom, provided that the deciding factor has something to do with fashion or cosmetics. Enough for a one-off perhaps - and it is brisk, harmless fun - but a sequel inevitably followed two years later. The film's putrid pink colour scheme would prove a sine qua non of the genre for a generation.
