The Lady from Shanghai (1947)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 87m
Director: Orson Welles
Cast: Orson Welles, Rita Hayworth, Everett Sloane

Synopsis:

A sailor-drifter takes on work aboard a rich couple's yacht and is induced, partly by the attentions of his employer's wife, to help fake the murder of one of the passengers in exchange for cash. Trouble is, passenger turns up dead.

Review:

Welles's classic film noir effort has all the ingredients, fall guy, femme fatale, twisted plot and a hall of mirrors finale, without ever quite selling us its bill of goods. No matter, the visuals are worthy enough.
