The Last Musician of Auschwitz (2025)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col 90m
Director: Toby Trackman
Cast: Anita Lasker-Wallfisch (as herself), Katie Shalka, others

Synopsis:

The familiar story of Auschwitz and the Holocaust, told by the musicians who were allowed to live so long as they played for the Nazis, but managed nevertheless to dedicate new music to their ordeals.

Review:

Memoirs and archival interview footage mingle with specially mounted performances of songs and other compositions, with the offspring of survivors adding their own reflections to the mix. Over it all towers the presence of cellist Anita Lasker, now nearly 100 hundred years old.
