Made in Dagenham (2010)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col/2.35:1 113m
Director: Nigel Cole
Cast: Sally Hawkins, Bob Hoskins, Kenneth Cranham, Andrea Riseborough, Daniel Mays, Rosamund Pike, Miranda Richardson

Synopsis:

East London, 1968: the Ford factory is caught on the hop when the women machinists strike over downgrading, and then broaden their dispute to demand equal pay.

Review:

Recycling many a Brit-com trope since Brassed Off, Cole's film nevertheless wins over its audience via consistent engagement with the narrative of injustice at its heart. Casting on all sides is guaranteed to please, but Hawkins shines out in front as the housewife who discovers her political voice.
