Magic Piano (2011)

£0.00

Country: CHI/NOR/POL
Technical: col 30m
Director: Martin Clapp
Cast: Puppets

Synopsis:

A bric-à-brac repairman loses his lease and must leave his daughter with a relation while he finds work abroad. Missing her father, and barely amused by her younger cousin's attempts at play, she inadvertently transforms the junk in the back yard into a flying grand piano that transports them both across Europe to her heart's desire.

Review:

Made to commemorate the bicentenary of Chopin's birth, this stunning animation is accompanied by nine of the Etudes, whose identities are etched onto bits of décor. The flight of the piano is a breathtaking realisation of pages from a children's book, and the faces of the girl and her father will stay with you for a long time afterwards.
