Making a Living (1914)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 13m
Director: Henry Lehrman
Cast: Charles Chaplin, Emma Bell Clifton, Chester Conklin

Synopsis:

Charlie the cad tries to cadge some money off an old acquaintance, then steal his fiancée. When his 'get rich quick' scheme fails he looks for a job - unfortunately at the same man's place of employ.

Review:

Chaplin's earliest extant work is a startlingly fastmoving piece of slapstick, largely shot on location in and around Los Angeles. One stunt involves the pair fighting in front of a tram and being toppled onto its spoiler, still fighting.
