The various eccentric types that make up the criminal enterprise (Garage Monico) place this firmly in the light comedy bracket, and probably none would venture to watch it nowadays were it not for constituting Wilder's fleeting visit to the French film industry. Actually it is quite an engaging ride, with Parisian car chases and pacy storytelling that owe much to the silent era.
