Nuremberg (2025)
![]()
Country: US/HUN
Technical: col/2.39:1 148m
Director: James Vanderbilt
Cast: Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Rami Malek, John Slattery, Leo Woodall, Richard E. Grant
Synopsis:
An army head doctor is given the task of assessing the psychological health of the prisoners at Nuremberg, but develops an unhealthy attachment to the star defendant, Hermann Göring.
Review:
Apparently based on a real case history by the doomed psychiatrist at its heart, this misguided venture makes the fatal mistake of trying to upstage the Nuremberg trials, amping up the doctor's shenanigans beyond the bounds of plausibility. A protracted viewing of concentration camp footage even then does nothing to save it, and it's all for nothing since Crowe's Göring walks away with the film. What about his other patients? you might cry, and a messy, compensatory finale surrounding the hangings nudges into Pierrepoint territory.
