The Night of the Sunflowers (2006)

£0.00

(La noche de los girasoles)

Country: SP/PORT/FR
Technical: col 123m
Director: Jorge Sánchez-Cabezudo
Cast: Carmelo Gómez, Judith Diakhate, Celso Bugallo

Synopsis:

Potholers and a serial rapist converge on an isolated hamlet in Cantabria, bringing violence and misery with them.

Review:

A steadily paced portrait of a community in touch with itself, except for a civil guardsman who is cheating on his wife, but then suddenly shaken out of its regular rhythms by visitors from the city. It divides itself into five or six chapters focusing on different characters in turn to slow-burn and haunting effect.
