The Nanny (1965)

£0.00

Country: GB/US
Technical: bw 93m
Director: Seth Holt
Cast: Bette Davis, Jill Bennett, William Dix, Wendy Craig, Pamela Franklin

Synopsis:

A British family welcomes back home their behaviourally challenging son, just out of an institution for apparently drowning his sister in the bath. He, meanwhile, maintains that it was all nanny's fault.

Review:

As a scenario this was one of Hammer's better efforts, and they had a cast to back it up, from Davis, importing her Baby Jane persona of crazed attentiveness, to Craig and Bennett as the tormented mother and aunt. The only trouble is, it is all so over the top on paper and Holt does not know when to tone down the execution.
