One Fine Morning (2022)

£0.00

(Un beau matin)

Country: FR/GB/GER
Technical: col 112m
Director: Mia Hansen-Løve
Cast: Léa Seydoux, Pascal Greggory, Melvil Poupaud, Nicole Garcia, Camille Leban Martins

Synopsis:

As she struggles with the growing dependence of her dementia stricken father, a single mother embarks on an affair with her late husband's former friend, who has a family of his own.

Review:

Unless we are supposed to draw inferences from the protagonists' respective occupations - she is a translator, concerned with the forms of words, he a cosmo-chemist, gathering and testing cosmic dust particles - this is a straightforward Gallic drama in the Rohmer/Ozon traditions, showing once again the generosity and humanism of this particular film maker. It is anchored around Seydoux's unquestionably fine performance, but also shows how, at whatever stage of existence they might be, the French seem to have a handle on living their lives to the full.
