Synopsis:
A French overseas agent involves himself in a sting operation on French metropolitan soil in an attempt to preserve the honour of his wife who has been detailed to 'distract' the husband of an interpreter essential to the operation's success.
Review:
Three years before hitting the mother lode with Les Visiteurs, Alain Terzian and his team turned in this sub-Louis de Funès slapstick. Incomprehensibly plotted, and taking as its theme the ever-circling threat to the amour-propre of the Gallic male, this enervatingly tedious chase movie put the cause of French political correctness back several decades. Among the special interest groups likely to lodge a complaint are: handicapped people, nuns, Mexicans, overweight ladies, homosexuals (viz. Clavier's walk and handbag), the elderly, and the owners of Parc Astérix, the location of the film's non-denouement.
