Orca: The Killer Whale (1977)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 92m
Director: Michael Anderson
Cast: Richard Harris, Charlotte Rampling, Will Sampson, Bo Derek

Synopsis:

A killer whale attacks a fishing community when its mate is killed by them, and a whale hunter sets out in pursuit of it.

Review:

The Moby Dick elements in Jaws are made more explicit in this shameless spin-off. It is pretty well made, and the scene where the whale hunt goes badly wrong is truly horrible, but the exploitative elements of the scenario (Bo Derek losing a leg to the whale while on dry land!), along with the tacky music, too often jar with the intriguing premise and respectably eco message.
