Out of Africa (1985)

£0.00

Country: US/GB
Technical: col 150m
Director: Sydney Pollack
Cast: Meryl Streep, Robert Redford, Klaus Maria Brandauer

Synopsis:

A Danish writer moves to Africa with her useless husband and begins an affair with an American hunter.

Review:

Streep got to show off another flawless accent and Redford got to be dashing, laconic and doomed again. Apart from the immaculate technical trappings (stunning location footage, John Barry's romantic score, impeccable period recreation) this is a beautiful ornament of a movie, too calculated and portentous (Hatton yet again silhouetted against a sunset) to yield much authentic response.
