Phantom of the Opera (1943)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 92m
Director: Arthur Lubin
Cast: Claude Rains, Nelson Eddy, Susanna Foster

Synopsis:

A disfigured and unjustly neglected composer rises from the Paris sewers to take captive the soprano understudy he believes should be in the diva role.

Review:

Universal gave this the full-blooded Technicolor treatment, and Rains is just the man for the role. Unfortunately, however, the presence of Nelson Eddy necessitates undue focus on the performance of operatic scenes that add nothing to the story and detracts from the horrific aspects.
