The Proposition (2005)

£0.00

Country: AUS/GB
Technical: col/2.35:1 104m
Director: John Hillcoat
Cast: Ray Winstone, Guy Pearce, Emily Watson, Danny Huston, John Hurt, David Gulpilil

Synopsis:

A disillusioned lawman in the Australian outback uses an outlaw's brother as hostage to force him to track down and kill his other brother, an incorrigible killer 'gone bad'.

Review:

Powerful Australian 'western', with shades of The Big Country and The Shooting in the Winstone character and the setting respectively. It is compellingly constructed and acted with intense quietude by all except a barnstorming John Hurt. Nick Cave's music is effective backing.
