The Poseidon Adventure (1972)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 117m
Director: Ronald Neame
Cast: Gene Hackman, Ernest Borgnine, Shelley Winters

Synopsis:

An ocean liner is capsized by a tidal wave and a hip preacher leads a tattered group of survivors through the upturned vessel towards the hull.

Review:

It's never quite clear how they got through the hull, but this highly conceptualized disaster pic was the first in a stream of movies with similar ingredients: heroic actor in leadership role, human interest subplots, and bags of spectacle for when the pace flagged. It's no better nor worse than most, but Hackman is always worth watching.
