Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 115m
Director: Steven Spielberg
Cast: Harrison Ford, Karen Allen, Denholm Elliott, Ronald Lacey, Paul Freeman

Synopsis:

Between the wars an intrepid archaeologist fights to keep the legendary sacred Jewish artefact out of the hands of his French competitor and the Nazis.

Review:

Hot-footed, impeccably dovetailed sequence of Saturday morning serial situations, given the kind of professional handling they had never dreamt of. It created a new hero for the blockbuster-hungry eighties, and injected a new, bloodier, dose of violence into 'family' entertainment. (The kind of effect which had earned Scanners an 'X' certificate only two years before was no bar to the 'A' granted here.)
