Raintree County (1957)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope(Camera 65) 166m
Director: Edward Dmytryk
Cast: Montgomery Clift, Elizabeth Taylor, Eva Marie Saint

Synopsis:

Just before the Civil War, an idealistic student and writer is expected to marry his childhood sweetheart but when a southern belle visits his home county there is a mutual attraction neither can deny fruit.

Review:

Sooner or later MGM was going to try to repeat the success of Gone with the Wind and this was to be it. It would be hard to deny any interest in the results, such is the talent involved, but the production was broken by Clift's car accident and somehow became a film maudit.
