Return of the Jedi (1983)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 132m
Director: Richard Marquand
Cast: Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher

Synopsis:

The Empire builds a new Death Star to replace the first, but the Rebel alliance is closing in, and the decisive battle takes place on the moon Endor, with its primitive bear-like inhabitants, the Ewoks, lending a hand.

Review:

Cuddly toys as allies was really a step too far in cutism, and after a vigorous first act covering Han's rescue by Luke and Leia, this third instalment (now episode 6) resolves itself in a retread of earlier elements and an interminable struggle with the dark side. Just as the effects work has gained in brilliance and complexity, so the mythic resonances have grown more clumsily pointed.
