River of No Return (1954)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 91m
Director: Otto Preminger
Cast: Robert Mitchum, Marilyn Monroe, Rory Calhoun

Synopsis:

Double-crossed by a gambler he saves from the rapids, a farmer, his son and the gambler's wife must flee marauding Indians by taking the same raft onwards downstream.

Review:

Shot on location in Canada under difficult circumstances, this was one of the early Cinemascope presentations from Fox. Despite impressive footage shot in the Alberta and Idaho Rockies, the matches with that shot in the studio tank are unconvincing, and the musical numbers are a distraction.
