Run of the Arrow (1957)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 85m
Director: Samuel Fuller
Cast: Rod Steiger, Sarita Montiel, Charles Bronson

Synopsis:

A Confederate soldier rides west after the Civil War and joins the Sioux, marrying a native American girl. But the army catches up with him and he must decide on his loyalties.

Review:

Coincidentally not a million miles from the story of Dances with Wolves (1990), Fuller's script is typical of the director in taking an angle (from the press or from history) and running with it. In this case, the pro-Indian western was already becoming a commonplace, with cowboy more often pitted against cowboy, but the degree of physical punishment and mental anguish his character goes through bears no relation! Steiger is the perfect foil.
