Rushmore (1998)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 93m
Director: Wes Anderson
Cast: Bill Murray, Olivia Williams, Jason Schwartzman, Seymour Cassel, Brian Cox

Synopsis:

An intellectually precocious but emotionally immature fifteen year-old at the eponymous academic institution wants nothing more than to stay there indefinitely and be romantically involved with the infant school teacher. His friendship with a former alumnus and successful businessman complicates and facilitates his aspirations, but all comes right in the end.

Review:

A revue-like, serendipitous structure contains elements of comedy and drama that at times sit uneasily with each other; certainly there is little attempt at verisimilitude, but the unlikely resolution is excessively pat alongside the mordant humour of much that has gone before. On balance as smug as its uningratiating hero, with Murray and Williams disappointingly underused.
