Safari (1956)

£0.00

Country: GB/US
Technical: col/scope 91m
Director: Terence Young
Cast: Victor Mature, Janet Leigh, Roland Culver

Synopsis:

Kenya, the 1950s: a white settler and hunter acts as guide for a lion-hunting party, but secretly wants to catch the Mau Mau responsible for killing his family.

Review:

Oddly topical and even more oddly becalmed action-thriller with political overtones, which sidetracks into leading lady shenanigans and quickly becomes indistinguishable from Mogambo or White Witch Doctor. (The film was actually shot in Kenya during the uprising, but none of that excitement translates to the screen, alas.)
