Safety Last (1923)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 70m (24fps)
Director: Sam Taylor, Fred Newmeyer
Cast: Harold Lloyd, Mildred Davis

Synopsis:

A smalltown man moves to the big city to make good and marry his girl, but has trouble rising up the ranks of his department store. An overheard conversation and his pal's remarkable steeplejack skills inspire in him the plan of involving his employers in a publicity stunt, one in which he himself ends up climbing the twelve-storey building while his friend evades the cops.

Review:

Classic Lloyd comedy, the one everyone remembers for its set-piece climb bestrewn with hazards, though there are other cleverer moments in this and elsewhere in his work.
