Satan Met a Lady (1936)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 74m
Director: William Dieterle
Cast: Bette Davis, Warren William, Marie Wilson

Synopsis:

A motley crew of nefarious characters are all after a priceless eighteenth century ram's horn, and all double-crossing each other.

Review:

Based on Hammett's The Maltese Falcon, which Warners had already filmed in 1931, this was a remix with the emphasis on light comedy. Gutman becomes Madame Barabbas, the Templars' falcon becomes Roland's horn (actually Olivier's), etc. No matter, the audience is soon as lost with all the ins and outs as the cast seem to be.
