Shadow of a Doubt (1943)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 108m
Director: Alfred Hitchcock
Cast: Joseph Cotten, Teresa Wright, Hume Cronyn

Synopsis:

Santa Rosa, California, and young Charlie Newton looks forward to her beloved Uncle Charlie coming to visit, little aware that he is lying low after his exploits as the infamous Merry Widow murderer.

Review:

As ever Hitch clues us in straight away as to the identity of his killer, leaving us to sweat and his heroine to suspect. Faultlessly made and partly shot on location, the film speaks volumes about the secrets behind middle America's homely exterior, looking forward to Blue Velvet, so that it is easy to forget that it was made before even the war was over.
