Silk Stockings (1957)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 117m
Director: Rouben Mamoulian
Cast: Fred Astaire, Cyd Charisse, Peter Lorre, George Tobias

Synopsis:

The Soviets send three agents to Paris to retrieve a Russian composer who has taken too much to the decadent lifestyle there. When they fail to return, a beautiful but fanatical female agent is sent as well, but an American movie producer distracts her.

Review:

A musical remake of Ninotchka (1939), which namechecks all the familiar beats of the original with stars who make up in grace what they lack in comic timing. Still, it is all a bit hard going this time around.
