Silkwood (1983)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 131m
Director: Mike Nichols
Cast: Meryl Streep, Kurt Russell, Cher

Synopsis:

An aggressively unionist worker at a nuclear power plant campaigns for improved working conditions but is herself contaminated when an accident occurs.

Review:

Streep's second great role after Sophie's Choice is a heavy-going drama along the 'whistle-blower silenced' lines, but based on a true story. It is serious Hollywood moviemaking at somewhere near its best, but there are too many domestic scenes and one feels it could have been brought in some way under two hours.
