Smokey and the Bandit (1977)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 96m
Director: Hal Needham
Cast: Burt Reynolds, Jackie Gleason, Sally Field

Synopsis:

A self-styled daredevil-cum-bootlegger takes a consignment of undeclared beer across state lines, pursued by an irate sheriff whose daughter-in-law-to-be he has picked up hitchhiking.

Review:

With about as much plot substance as a silent era two-reeler, former second unit director Needham's chase movie was packaged as raucously high-spirited disrespect for the law, fitted with a new set of wheels and powered by its macho star's endearing self-parody. There are moments when it succeeds, and Miss Field is a welcome discovery.
