Stop Thief! (1901)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: bw 111ft
Director: James A. Williamson
Cast:

Synopsis:

A tramp steals some bread and is chased by the baker and various dogs into a barrel.

Review:

The thief is chased out of one frame and then in through the relevant side of the frame in the next shot, to be caught finally in the third. The joining of such shots by means of a simple cut was a step forward in film continuity. Interestingly, though they exit frame left from shot one and re-enter frame left in shot two, they are running in opposite directions.
