Sweeney! (1976)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: Technicolor 89m
Director: David Wickes
Cast: John Thaw, Dennis Waterman, Barry Foster, Ian Bannen, Colin Welland, Joe Melia, Diane Keen

Synopsis:

With an OPEC conference in the offing, a press secretary in the pay of an oil company uses scandalous information to coerce his minister into a policy U-turn. The Flying Squad meanwhile puts together the pieces of a conspiracy.

Review:

Pretty faithful cinema version of a successfully gritty, and violent, TV series. On the big screen it all looks oddly smallscale, and time hasn't been kind to it, but the cast is enough to keep one watching up to the rather arresting conclusion (no pun intended).
