The Spanish Gardener (1956)

£0.00

Country: GB
Technical: col/VistaVision 97m
Director: Philip Leacock
Cast: Dirk Bogarde, Michael Hordern, Jon Whiteley, Cyril Cusack, Maureen Swanson

Synopsis:

A recently separated British diplomat is posted to Spain, where his young son befriends the residential gardener. The father's jealousy, however, brings about a hostile response.

Review:

This Rank drama looked good but suffered from a weak script and a miscast lead. Too many scenes are clearly just there to ratchet up the tension between Hordern and the gardener, and Bogarde looks peevish at having to play (presumably) a potential child molester.
