The Suicide Squad (2021)

£0.00

Country: US/CAN/GB
Technical: col/1.90:1 132m
Director: James Gunn
Cast: Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, Viola Davis, Tinashe Kajese

Synopsis:

A government programme offers hardened killers and mutants commuted sentences in exchange for their engagement in perilous missions. One such involves infiltrating a totalitarian state in the Caribbean, and terminating an alien biological weapons project.

Review:

DC Comics' Suicide Squad (previously filmed as such in 2016) is in cinematic terms a conflation of X-Men and The Dirty Dozen. The present incarnation upped the ante on Marvel efforts in the field by including off-the-wall humour, surreal characters (a bipedal weasel, a walking shark and giant starfish) and gross-out gore effects. Acting required: minimal.
