La traversée de Paris (1956)

£0.00

Country: FR
Technical: bw 83m
Director: Claude Autant-Lara
Cast: Bourvil, Jean Gabin, Louis de Funès

Synopsis:

An unemployed taxi driver turned black marketeer in occupied Paris enlists the help of a stranger in transferring a freshly slaughtered pig across the city by night in four suitcases, and comes to regret it.

Review:

Aurenche and Bost script this adaptation, giving Gabin one of his typical ranting and raving roles, lashing all manner of cowardly Parisians with his tongue. The glossy production values and light tone are strangely at odds with the uncomfortable critique of a France under the German heel.
