La Traviata (1982)

£0.00

Country: IT
Technical: col 109m
Director: Franco Zeffirelli
Cast: Placido Domingo, Teresa Stratas

Synopsis:

A demi-mondaine falls in love with a young man of property, but his father forbids it and she dies of consumption.

Review:

Verdi's Dame aux Camélias is ideal for cinema adaptation, guaranteed a sympathetic response from modern audiences, and offering Zeffirelli the opportunity to create a world of colour schemes with costume and decor, lending each Act its particular mood. Domingo sings superbly, Stratas less well but more than makes up for it in delicate appearance.
