Tarzan's Desert Mystery (1943)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 70m
Director: William Thiele
Cast: Johnny Weissmuller, Nancy Kelly, Johnny Sheffield, Otto Kruger

Synopsis:

Jane charges Tarzan with acquiring a rare medicinal herb with which to treat Allied troops against malaria, and he and Boy run the gauntlet of Nazis, despotic sultans and fantastic creatures during their quest.

Review:

Like Sherlock Holmes before him, Tarzan too had to put his back into the war effort, hence the absence of jungle for much of this adventure (there were no Germans there). The results are more Indiana Jones before the fact than a true Tarzan movie, but producer Sol Lesser had plenty of space to ring the changes (this was his second feature that year).
