Taste of Fear (1961)

£0.00

(Scream of Fear)

Country: GB
Technical: bw 82m
Director: Seth Holt
Cast: Susan Strasberg, Ann Todd, Ronald Lewis

Synopsis:

A wheelchair bound young woman goes to live on her father's estate after a prolonged absence but, though told that he is away from home, she keeps seeing his corpse.

Review:

Highly effective suspenser somewhat derived from Clouzot's Les Diaboliques. It gains much of its power from Douglas Slocombe's black and white cinematography, a rarity from Hammer Films, and from Strasberg's convincing performance of a woman losing her mind. The studio would continue to feed the golden goose with Paranoiac and Fanatic.
