The Taking of Pelham One Two Three (1974)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col/scope 104m
Director: Joseph Sargent
Cast: Walter Matthau, Robert Shaw, Martin Balsam, Hector Elizondo

Synopsis:

Hijackers hold a New York subway train and demand a ransom.

Review:

Tense, grimly humorous thriller caper, with some Seventies excesses but satisfying performances from its trio of stars, and a catchy David Shire soundtrack. Essentially a B-movie set-up and accorded unostentatious treatment as befitting. Tony Scott remade it more busily as The Taking of Pelham 123. (Tarantino borrowed the device of giving the crooks coloured pseudonyms for his Reservoir Dogs.)
