They Were Expendable (1945)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 135m
Director: John Ford
Cast: John Wayne, Robert Montgomery, Donna Reed, Ward Bond

Synopsis:

A naval commander attempts to demonstrate the potential of the PT boat at the start of WW2, as the U.S. struggles to retain possession of the Philippines.

Review:

One of those flagwavers that would be dedicated to the many lives lost etc., and belaying its dramatic arc at some leisure. Ford at his most pedestrian, then, in spite of the emphasis being light and speedy.
