To Be or Not to Be (1983)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: col 107m
Director: Alan Johnson
Cast: Mel Brooks, Anne Bancroft, Tim Matheson, Charles Durning

Synopsis:

In wartime Poland an actor makes good his escape by posing as a German officer.

Review:

Dismal remake of a masterpiece, without the topicality or the sense of risk. Besides not being Jack Benny, Brooks adds to his crimes some of his own jokes and sentimental guff involving a homosexual dresser and a Jew. His co-stars struggle manfully with the material but it's a lost cause.
