Twentieth Century (1934)

£0.00

Country: US
Technical: bw 91m
Director: Howard Hawks
Cast: John Barrymore, Carole Lombard, Roscoe Karns, Walter Connolly

Synopsis:

A Broadway director whose career is in the doldrums bumps into his former star, now a Hollywood diva, on board the Twentieth Century, and attempts to persuade her to come back.

Review:

Possibly the most sustained, frenetic, vituperative slanging match ever put on film, this classic screwball comedy from Columbia was doubly poignant because Barrymore really was a ham and on the skids. Hawks, who knew how to do physical comedy, has a field day with the single set and the athletic Miss Lombard.
